foam sclerotherapy for varicose veins - london bridge

Safe. Effective. Minimally Invasive.

At London Bridge Healthcare, we offer foam sclerotherapy as a trusted, non-surgical treatment for varicose veins and spider veins. This advanced procedure helps restore the appearance of your legs while improving circulation and relieving discomfort — with little to no downtime.

What Is Foam Sclerotherapy?

Foam sclerotherapy is a modern variation of traditional sclerotherapy. It involves injecting a special medical-grade foam directly into the affected veins. The foam displaces blood within the vein and causes the vein walls to collapse, eventually being reabsorbed by the body. Blood is naturally rerouted to healthier veins.

What Conditions Does It Treat?

Foam sclerotherapy is commonly used to treat:

  • Varicose veins
  • Spider veins
  • Chronic venous insufficiency
  • Residual veins after surgery or laser treatments

It’s suitable for both cosmetic improvement and medical symptom relief, including heaviness, swelling, and aching in the legs.

Why Choose Foam Over Liquid Sclerotherapy?

Foam offers several advantages:

  • Greater accuracy: The foam is visible under ultrasound, allowing for precise targeting.

  • More effective on larger veins: Foam displaces blood better than liquid.

  • Reduced treatment sessions: Often requires fewer sessions for visible results.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Foam sclerotherapy is performed in our clinic and typically takes 15–45 minutes, depending on the number and size of veins being treated. Here’s what you can expect:

01

Consultation &
Ultrasound Mapping

We assess your vein health and plan your treatment.

02

Injection

A fine needle delivers the foam solution into targeted veins.

03

Compression &
Aftercare

Compression stockings are worn to help close the veins and promote healing.

There’s no need for anesthesia or incisions, and most patients return to normal activities the same day.
