Vascular Scientist
Kate has a wide range of experience in vascular ultrasound modalities, including lower and upper limb arterial and venous duplex, carotid duplex, ABPI / exercise testing, vascular access assessment for dialysis, renal artery and transplant kidney scanning, transcranial Doppler imaging, pedal artery duplex, bypass graft surveillance and vasculitis assessments including GCA.
Prior to becoming an Accredited Vascular Scientist, Kate completed a BSc Hons in Genetics and French at University of Wales, Swansea. She trained to become a Vascular Scientist at Kings College Hospital from 2004, gained a merit in her MSc in Medical Ultrasound from Kings and passed her final professional accreditation exam in 2007. In 2008 Kate moved to Bart’s Health NHS Trust and became the Lead Clinical Vascular Scientist at Bart’s in 2016. She has introduced a Clinical audit programme to the department and has been actively involved with the development of the NHS STP (Scientist Training Programme) training scheme and examinations.
