Who Should Consider Heart Screening & Investigations

Coronary health checks are recommended for:

Individuals with a Family History of Heart Disease:

What It Is: We begin by taking a thorough medical history, discussing any symptoms, lifestyle factors, and family history of heart disease. This helps us understand your risk profile and guide the rest of the evaluation.

People with Risk Factors

If heart disease runs in your family, early and regular checks can help detect any hereditary risks.

Smokers and Former Smokers

Smoking is a significant risk factor for heart disease, and even former smokers should consider regular checks.

Individuals Over 40

As we age, the risk of heart disease increases, making coronary health checks particularly important for those over 40.

Those Experiencing Symptoms

If you experience chest pain, shortness of breath, or irregular heartbeats, a coronary health check can help diagnose underlying issues.

What Does a
Heart Screening Investigation Involve?

At London Bridge Healthcare, our coronary health checks are comprehensive and tailored to your individual needs. The assessment typically includes:

01

Detailed Medical History
and Risk Assessment

What It Is: We begin by taking a thorough medical history, discussing any symptoms, lifestyle factors, and family history of heart disease. This helps us understand your risk profile and guide the rest of the evaluation.

02

Physical Examination

What It Is: A physical exam allows our doctors to assess your overall health, including your blood pressure, heart rate, and other vital signs that are critical indicators of cardiovascular health.

03

Blood Tests

What It Is: Blood tests measure key indicators such as cholesterol levels, blood sugar, and other markers that can reveal your risk for heart disease and other cardiovascular issues.

04

Electrocardiogram (ECG)

What It Is: An ECG records the electrical activity of your heart and helps detect abnormalities in heart rhythm or structure that may indicate underlying heart conditions.

05

Echocardiogram

What It Is: An echocardiogram uses ultrasound to create images of your heart, allowing our specialists to evaluate the heart’s structure and function in detail.

06

Stress Testing

What It Is: Stress testing involves monitoring your heart’s activity while you exercise, helping to assess how well your heart functions under physical stress and identifying any issues that may not be apparent at rest.

07

Coronary Calcium Screening

What It Is: This test uses a CT scan to detect calcium deposits in the coronary arteries, which can indicate the presence of plaque and help assess your risk of heart disease.

Interpreting Your Results and Next Steps

Once your heart screening investigation is complete, our expert cardiologists will review the results with you in detail. We’ll help you understand your current heart health, any potential risks, and the steps you can take to manage those risks. If any issues are detected, we’ll work with you to develop a personalised treatment plan that may include lifestyle changes, medication, or further diagnostic testing if necessary.
